Templates have grown up. The best ones this year aren’t rigid themes — they’re flexible section systems with real content strategy baked in. I tested dozens for client work; these ten are the ones I’d spend my own money on.

What makes a template great

Three tests: can a non-designer extend it without breaking it, does it load fast on a mid-range phone, and does the checkout or signup flow actually convert? Most templates fail at least one. The ten below pass all three, spanning landing pages, SaaS sites, dashboards, portfolios and storefront kits.

My top picks share a pattern — generous whitespace, honest pricing sections, accessible contrast out of the box, and documentation written for humans. The dashboard kits deserve special mention: proper empty states and filter patterns included, not just pretty charts.

How to customize without wrecking it

Change type, color and imagery first; touch layout last. Swap in your real copy before judging any design — placeholder text flatters everything. And resist stuffing every section back in: the reason the template converts is everything its author left out.

A template gets you to 80% fast. The last 20% — your positioning, proof and photography — is where designers earn their keep. Start from something solid, then make it unmistakably yours.
